School Business Manager

Hours: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £29,000 – £31,601
Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking to appoint a School Business Manager for January 2018.

Our longstanding SBM will be changing her career path at the end of December and we are looking for the right person to continue to help drive our school towards outstanding.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, organised, flexible, creative, forward thinking and effective School Business Manager who has;

Excellent interpersonal and team skills with a total commitment to the ethos and values of Larkrise Primary School and a good sense of humour.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with all staff so as to build positive relationships. We are looking for a person who can bring everyone together, so that the office has a central feel to the school.

Good leadership skills and a commitment to driving the School Improvement Plan. The SBM will form an important part of the SLT and will line manage site staff, admin staff and ICT contactors.

Good working knowledge and experience of administration, business management and MIS systems (preferably in a school context).

Resilience and an ability to prioritise and work under pressure.

Experience with financial systems such IBC, (Hampshire).

An understanding of how to generate income in the future.

Good marketing skills to advertise the school to the wider community.

A good understanding of Health and Safety requirements.

Ability to complete and keep up to date an accurate Single Central Record.

Excellent Human Resources knowledge with a good understanding of safer recruitment processes.

The ability to operate confidentially e.g. working alongside Occupational Health.

A good approach to staff absence management.

The ability to project manage site and maintenance projects.

A good financial understanding and the ability to work alongside Finance Governors to ensure that the school meets its educational aims in the most cost effective way.

A knowledge of financial risk management strategies.

The skills to promote the highest standards of business ethos within the administrative function of the school and strategically ensure the most effective use of resources in support of the school™s learning objectives.

Lead and manage the Holiday Playscheme and After School Club provision.

Larkrise is a popular and expanding school in East Oxford with 450 children on roll aged 3-11. Our childcare facilities are open from 8 am until 6 pm during term time and we also run a Holiday Play-scheme.

The school has strong links with the local and global community. The international dimension is embedded throughout the school and in particular through our fantastic story based curriculum in which the whole curriculum is taught under the umbrella of a story from various countries around the World.

We are proud of the cultural diversity at the school, which gives Larkrise its unique character and enriches the lives and learning of all children. We currently have 36 different first languages within our school community.

We have excellent outdoor learning provision (including Forest Schools). We provide outstanding sports, music and performing arts provision. We have a school Samba Band that is widely recognised at community events such as the Cowley Road Carnival. You may have seen our yellow Samba T-shirts and heard the rhythm of the Samba Band at many events around East Oxford.

In our most recent Ofsted (February 2013), a "Good" grade was awarded and we are currently on our Journey to Outstanding we want to ensure that we continue to grow and improve. We are excited about this journey and would welcome any additional ideas or skills to help us achieve this outcome.
