We are looking for a new Headteacher

We are currently looking for a new headteacher. Please see the Headteacher Recruitment page for details.

We are looking for a passionate and innovative Key Stage 1 (Year 2) Teacher for a temporary maternity cover post from January 2018

Are you Curious, Confident, Creative, Caring and able to Celebrate the success of others and yourself? If so, Larkrise could be the School for you. These are the core values that underpin our curriculum.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and creative teacher who can offer a wealth of experiences to our children.

Larkrise is a popular and expanding school in East Oxford with 450 children on roll aged 3-11. Our childcare facilities are open from 8 am until 6 pm during term time and we also run a Holiday Play-scheme.

The school has strong links with the local and global community. The international dimension is embedded throughout the school and in particular through our fantastic story based curriculum in which the whole curriculum is taught under the umbrella of a story from various countries around the World.

We are proud of the cultural diversity at the school, which gives Larkrise its unique character and enriches the lives and learning of all children. We currently have 36 different first languages within our school community.

We have excellent outdoor learning provision (including Forest Schools). We provide outstanding sports, music and performing arts provision. We have a school Samba Band that is widely recognised at community events such as the Cowley Road Carnival. You may have seen our yellow Samba T-shirts and heard the rhythm of the Samba Band at many events around East Oxford.

We offer an excellent CPD package for all of our teaching staff. Teachers are coached and mentored in teams focussing on whole school, class or specific group’s development needs. Within this each teacher, is allocated time to analyse teaching and learning by watching video recordings of their lessons, discussing learning with colleagues, and planning lessons alongside one another. We are very much a learning school and our teacher’s model learning alongside the children and demonstrate having a growth mind-set approach. One Larkrise teacher said, "I feel the coaching model has made me think about the provision I offer to the different groups of children. Its great watching somebody else teach your class and carrying out Pupil Pursuits of the children so that I can ascertain barriers to learning. I love how the coaching model has made us all collaborate. Using the Iris Connect camera software to review my own teaching has made me massively improve and grow as a teacher".

We set high expectations in regards to pupil progress and attainment.

Everybody at Larkrise has ownership of our whole school aims. We have moved away from the curriculum subject leader’s model, which remains popular in some schools to a model called "Change Teams". The change teams work together to make an impact that drives School Improvement. A teacher at Larkrise said, "The change team model at Larkrise has been empowering and enriching. I have had experiences of working within a team, planning a project with specific targets and really feel I have developed my leadership and management skills. I feel proud of the project outcomes".

Have a look at our Three Year Strategic Plan and Dream School Project on the School Website to get a feel for where the school is heading in the future. Perhaps you have some of the skills to address some of our 2017-18 aims. We are particularly looking for teachers with skills and an enthusiasm for Spanish, PE, Music, Literacy and ICT.

In our recent Ofsted, a ‘Good’ grade was awarded and we are currently on our Journey to Outstanding. We are excited about this journey and would welcome any additional ideas or skills to help us achieve this outcome.

We are recruiting for January 2018 due to our current Lower School Phase Leader leaving to embark upon maternity leave. We are looking to appoint a teacher who supports the ethos of the school and its core values; Curiosity, Caring, Confidence, Creativity and Celebration. Newly Qualified and experienced teachers are invited to apply for a temporary position.
